Communication and Traffic Signal Networks-Halton, Ontario

Halton

Case details

The municipality of Halton Ontario required geospatial data collection and mapping of their communication and traffic signal networks. The municipality required data that was collected to be in a format that was compatible with their GIS system, so that asset management, planning could be carried out in a streamlined and orderly fashion. All data needed to be collected and integrated in a cost effective and efficient way.

GDIC was contracted to completed full-scale mapping and data collection of the communication and traffic signal network (fibre, conduit) within regional roads right of way on behalf of the Regional Municipality of Halton in Ontario. GDIC’s team of experienced technicians traced, and GPS mapped all lines and assets, surface and underground, while also collecting metadata information related to the condition of the network, its connections and sources.

Data collected from hundreds of signalized intersections and thousands meters of regional network lines was transferred to the City’s Geographic Information System to support future network planning and the One Call program.
